AllMusic Review by

Released in Australia in 2000, The Legendary Elvis Presley picks 50 tracks, seemingly at random, from Elvis' lengthy career (apart from anything recorded at Sun), and then sequences them, seemingly at random, across three discs. Needless to say, there are classic performances here -- not just hits, of which there are many, but also fan and critical favorites -- but there is also a bunch of MOR also-rans plus the occasional dose of pure schlock like the "Hawaiian Wedding Song." In short, it's a bit bewildering of a set that won't satisfy the connoisseur nor will it provide a good summary for anyone looking for a thorough three-disc collection. It may, however, be good for the MOR fan, looking for a sampling of Elvis singing mainstream pop and ballads at nearly every stage of his career.
