AllMusic Review by

This bootleg LP features the trumpeter in May 1952 with a sextet also including altoist Jackie McLean, Don Elliott on vibes and mellophone, pianist Gil Coggins, bassist Connie Henry and drummer Connie Kay, information that is not supplied in the nonexistent liner notes. Collectors should try to acquire all of his recordings from this era but more general listeners can skip this one (which they probably won't be able to find anyway) for the music (which has just so-so recording quality) is not all that significant. Two mislabelled songs ("Opmet" and "Evans") are actually different versions of "Out of the Blue."
