Willie Nelson's set as part of 1983's massive US Festival occurred on Country Day, June 4, and comprised more than 20 songs -- which he rips through with the ease and focus of the veteran performer he was. (Although Shout! Factory snipped some of the between-songs banter to keep things within 80 minutes.) Included are a mini-set of vocal standards, virtually all of his major hits, and guest vocals from Waylon Jennings (who had his own festival set) on "Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys" and "Good Hearted Woman." The band is cooking, and although Nelson occasionally sounds like he's not stretching, he gives the crowd a pleasing set of prime country. Shout! Factory also released a DVD of the same show.
