AllMusic Review by

The second volume of this regrettably unavailable series of two-fers contains all of CBS's Ellington recordings from October 1928 up to January 29, 1930, a period when trumpeter Cootie Williams replaced Bubber Miley and altoist Johnny Hodges quickly developed into one of the major soloists in jazz. There are lots of valuable rarities on this highly enjoyable two-fer.
