After many recordings throughout the 1970s, cornetist Wild Bill Davison was finally starting to show his age when he made this album in 1980. At 74, Davison's sound was still very much intact, although he was not aiming for as many high notes as earlier. Teamed up with five top British musicians (including trombonist Roy Williams and the reeds of Johnny Barnes), Davison clearly enjoyed himself during the session. He takes a vocal on "Is It True What They Say About Dixie" and jams such numbers as "From Monday On," "You Can Depend on Me" and "I Never Knew" with sincere feeling and colorful melodic variations. Worth picking up by Dixieland and Wild Bill fans.
