This fun date features hot jazz cornetist Wild Bill Davison jamming on a variety of standards with cornetist Alex Welsh's British Dixieland band. Davison and Welsh worked quite well together (even trading off on a couple songs), and the band also features fine soloists in Al Gay (on clarinet and tenor), trombonist Roy Williams, and pianist Fred Hunt. Among the Dixieland war horses that are uplifted are "Beale Street Blues," "Riverboat Shuffle," and "Fidgety Feet," along with some offbeat material ("The Continental," "Call Me Irresponsible," and "Duet"). Easily recommended to trad jazz collectors.
