This LP is a real obscurity, probably the only release from the Big Horn label. Recorded at the 1972 Big Horn Jazzfest in Ivanhoe, Illinois, this jam session is very much Wild Bill Davison's date. He heads a sextet also including veteran trombonist George Brunis, Bob Wilber (on clarinet and soprano), pianist Art Hodes (Bobby Wright takes his place on two of the six numbers), bassist Rail Wilson and drummer Barrett Deems. The music is loose and quite lively, with "Tin Roof Blues" the closest any of the songs gets to being a ballad. Highlights include "Avalon," "What Can I Say Dear After I Say I'm Sorry" and "Running Wild." Dixieland fans will want to search for this rarity.
