Soul Classics, Vol. 6 offers 15 more quiet storm and soul ballads from the '70s, including Heatwave's "The Night We Fell," the Isley Brothers' "Footsteps in the Dark," and Smokey Robinson's "Baby Come Close." Though the collection doesn't offer many quintessential tracks from the artists it includes, it does have some interesting, less-heard contributions, such as Switch's "I Call Your Name," Lenny Williams' "'Cause I Love You," and Brainstorm's "You Put a Change in My Life." Songs by the Ohio Players, Rick James, the Four Tops, and the Masqueraders complete this unique, but not definitive, compilation. Soul fans who already have the essentials might want to investigate this album if they're feeling adventurous.
