This album features two original Lionel Hampton albums recorded for Brunswick Records in the '70s: Please Sunrise and Stop! I Don't Need No Sympathy. Aficionados dismissed both as aberrations because of the contemporary soul arrangements, and they were buried amongst the countless albums Hampton recorded. But, thankfully, these sizzling instrumentals of Brunswick & Dakar recordings by Barbara Acklin, the Chi-lites, Tyrone Davis, etc., are revitalized on this twofer CD. The selections also feature: Hal David & Burt Bacharach's "I Wake Up Crying," Linda Creed and Thom Bell's "Stop, Look, Listen to Your Heart," and Stevie Wonder's "Where Were You When I Needed You."
