The 2013 budget-line compilation Playlist is the first G. Love & Special Sauce collection to be released in a decade, and covers the same ground as 2002's The Best Of, containing the same staples -- "Blues Music," "Cold Beverage," "Baby's Got Sauce," and, of course, "Stepping Stones," his only charting single -- and some of the same album tracks. There are a couple of rarities here -- three live cuts, including a cover of the blues standard "The Things That I Used to Do," and an alternate version of "This Ain't Living" -- but they're not collector bait as much as a way to keep the comp somewhat lively. Either will suit the needs of casual fans wanting to hear G. Love & Special Sauce at their best.
