Fire in the Sky juxtaposes the more human, organic dimensions of Mark Isham's music with the otherworldly, electronic ambitions of his more far-reaching scores to capture the mystery and wonder of the alien abduction central to the onscreen narrative. Isham navigates the extremes of his approach with precision, expertly crafting dark, foreboding soundscapes that pulse with life. Given the contemplative, atmospheric signatures of his best-known scores, the sheer visceral intensity of this music is surprising and impressive, and it remains one of his most fully-realized efforts.
