The days when every Boo Radleys' non-LP track was a crucial prize ended with the Lazarus EP. The U.K. version of Barney fails slightly in the same way as the last two singles off Giant Steps. The A-side is a good song off that album. Lyric writer Martin Carr is recalling his youth as a New Order fan in these words -- but this acoustic version of the Every Heaven EP's "Tortoiseshell" is not as special as the three-year-old full-band original (and not that interesting). "Zoom" is nice enough, childlike folk but not special, and "Cracked Lips, Homesick" is better folk with a great chorus, but not worth the cost alone.
