Bangles

In a Different Light

Composed by Susanna Hoffs / Vicki Peterson

Song Review by

Easily one of the hardest, edgiest rockers on the Bangles' Different Light album, the title tune provides one of the few moments on the album where the group is really allowed to flex their muscle. Cast in a sort of "Satisfaction" rhythm and motif, the song barrels past the listener like a fright train, with a blinding energy and moxie. However, despite the hard rock edge, the song's lyrics are as tender as anything the band ever wrote. An emotional love song that speaks of passion and the feeling one gets when they realize that they are, in fact, in love with someone that they already know well, the overall energy and universal quality of the message make this one of the strongest songs on the album.
