By the time of 1976, Jonathan Richman had already created another line-up and changed name of the band to Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers. Musically, this album contains even more obvious, stinky and slavishly imitative Rockabilly/jump-Blues songwriting ("Rockin' Shopping Center") and doo-woop call-and-response ("Important in Your Life"). The excitement (better say, total lack of) is crystal-clear when considering the production and the vocals alone, and the presence of covers confirms even more its irrelevance: Mink DeVille was thousand times better, in that regard.
