Former Manowar guitarist David Shankle mostly retired from music, releasign a few albums through side projects, including this one, David Shankle Group: 2003's Ashes to Ashes contains 80's-produced, Drop C-tuned Power Metal reminiscent of Symphony X and, in very small doses, Cradle of Filth, featuring amateurish pseudo-macho boy-ish vocals, riffs citing both from Neo-classical and Kyuss-derived stoned pentatonics and digital, trigger-heavy production. Songs themselves aren't bad, but the horrible production, vocalist, atonal, feverish soloing (to the point of sounding off-key) and outdated epic visual attire are completely wrong.
