Based in Waterbury, Connecticut, Sudden Impact featured Octavio Deleon, Ira Wilkes, George Leary, Harold Bush, and Edward Cauthen. Deleon was with After the Storm and the Johnnie Wilder Band (in Germany), the latter of which became Heatwave. He also did a stint with Bill Baker's Five Satins. Wilkes worked with Bloodstone; Leary sang with Topaz and Wilbert Hart's Delfonics; Bush sang with the Gondoleres; and Cauthen was with the Melofunk, Inc. and the Directions. The mellow, soulful group released Pure Passion, a buttery collection perfect for red-light specials. It mixed old-school slow jams with original contributions that were just as mellow.
