AllMusic Review by

Prior to his big-budget Hollywood breakthrough Ronin, composer Elia David Cmiral was commissioned to score the video game The Last Express, which true to form values the kind of expressiveness and subtlety rare to the game medium. While composed primarily for electronics (naturally), the score also embraces acoustic instruments, complete with a main theme dominated by violin -- Cmiral deftly evokes the game's Art Nouveau-inspired graphic design via period instruments like harpsichord, but he also makes good use of more contemporary elements, most notably the driving percussion that underscores action themes like the suspenseful "Pursuit."
