The Great R&B Female Groups: The 70's Review

by Andrew Hamilton

Ten female groups are featured on ten songs, and thankfully K-Tel left the editing scissors in the drawer. The Pointer Sisters' "How Long (Betcha Got a Chick on the Side)" rocks & bounces for seven minutes and 20 funky seconds. Tough sounds "Armed & Extremely Dangerous," by First Choice contrast sweet thangs like the Three Degrees' "When Will I See You Again."The youthful innocence of "You Can't Turn Me Off (In the Middle of Turning Me On)" by High Inergy track with Love Unlimited's majestic "I Belong To You" for a well-rounded package. Nine very familiar selections and one obscure Van McCoy tune "Little Bit of Love" sung by Philly natives' Brenda & the Tabulations.
