The yang to the gold edition's ying, the blue edition of V/Vm's Sometimes, Good Things Happen set (same package design and track titles, different color and music) is a set of 12 processed noise pieces with virtually no dead air, but much more structure than previous experimental material by Manchester's avowed sonic terrorists. Feedback is the rule for the day, but amazingly, bursts of high-velocity melody do break through at times. Though fans of pure noise are few and far between, Sometimes, Good Things Happen is very well done; on "The Truth Is Dead," the noise ebbs and flows like lava, while on "Everything's Going Downhill," it darts in and around the deep production. It's difficult to avoid using descriptors like "hell" or "nightmarish" or "reminiscent of a nightmarish hell at a processing plant" to describe the material, but, unlike much noise produced by "noise" artists, Sometimes, Good Things Happen is a very evocative work.
