AllMusic Review by

This unusual quintet set finds Gerry Mulligan playing alto rather than baritone on four of the six selections. Tenor-saxophonist Zoot Sims co-stars and, with the assistance of a fine rhythm section (pianist Warren Bernhardt, bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Dave Bailey), the complementary horns explore Bix Beiderbecke's "Davenport Blues," the standard "New Orleans," "Sometime Ago" and three obscure but worthwhile Mulligan originals. This forgotten collector's item (the LP has not been available for decades) features swinging music with plenty of fine moments.
