While the Gossip followed up the success of their breakthrough album, Standing in the Way of Control, by recording their debut for the Sony imprint Red Ink, the label released whatever Gossip-related albums it could, including Live in Liverpool and this remix collection. Rework It features takes on Standing in the Way of Control's singles by Tommie Sunshine, Tiga, and New Young Pony Club. More than a few of these remixes were already collected on the 2006 EP GSSP RMX, while several of the best remixes, such as Le Tigre's spin on "Standing in the Way of Control," aren't included here. Rework It's track listing, which groups all of the remixes of each song together, is also a point of contention: hearing each remixer's variations on the songs can either be fascinating or just too repetitive, depending on your mood and the quality of the remixes. Fortunately, Rework It's tracks are solid, with Arthur Baker's electro-disco makeover of "Listen Up!" and Soulwax's Nite Version of "Standing in the Way of Control" leading the pack. Die-hard Gossip fans may already have all of these tracks, but this is a worthwhile collection for those catching up on the band's dance-oriented side.
