In Eugene Chadbourne's humongous discography, this 7" single may not weight much, but fans of the Doctor and avant-garde jazz fanatics will understand its historical and sentimental value. The guitarist discovered Dutch drummer Han Bennink on Eric Dolphy's LP Last Date, which of course included "Miss Ann." On side A he performs a solo rendition of the tune interpolated with Lennie Tristano's "Wow!" It is a typical performance of Chadbourne's Eddie Chatterbox persona. The flip side presents a duet with Bennink, a free improv seguing into the Dolphy composition. The guitarist's liner notes emphasizes the special nature of the moment, at the same justifying its appearance on record. No recording date is given and sound quality is very lo-fi, which should not come as a surprise to aficionados. Released in December 2001 by Ecstatic Yod as the first installment in their Just Another Ass Run series, this 7" makes a nice collectible.
