AllMusic Review by

The Gerry Mulligan Sextet of 1955-56 only released three LPs at the time, but decades later, the revived EmArcy label came up with two more albums of material, alternate takes that feature completely different solos than the more familiar versions. Mulligan's band at the time of the second volume included trumpeter Jon Eardley, valve trombonist Bob Brookmeyer and Zoot Sims on tenor, in addition to bassist Peck Morrison and drummer Dave Bailey. This infectious set is highlighted by "The Lady Is a Tramp," "Broadway," and "Bernie's Tune," all of the music previously unissued.
