The Dukes of Dixieland's final period resulted in five Decca LPs, of which this was the first and best. Trombonist Fred Assunto was already ill and is absent from the set, but the frontline (consisting of trumpeter Frank Assunto, Dave Remington and occasionally Papa Jac Assunto on trombones and clarinetist Jerry Fuller) is strong, and the repertoire (despite the inclusion of several then-current pop tunes, including "Charade," "More" and "Red Roses for a Blue Lady") fits the group well. Highlights include "China Boy," "Struttin' with Some Barbecue" and "Bourbon Street Parade."
