Imported from Denmark, this LP contains a variety of mostly obscure and overlooked Benny Carter recordings from the 1946-49 era. Carter is heard on two performances with a big band, backing a few decent -- but not particularly special -- singers and jamming with two hot small groups that also feature trumpeter Buck Clayton, Al Grey or Vic Dickenson on trombone and the great tenor Ben Webster. It is for the latter sessions that this LP is of greatest interest, capturing Carter and Webster during a time when they were being overshadowed by the bebop generation.
