This release marked a major step forward in the ongoing evolution of Jeff Greinke's electronic music. Where there was once a predominance of smoky haze there is a delicate luminosity and playfulness, with a new feeling of freshness and vitality that never surfaced on his previous releases. Even when he applies his characteristic treated piano and synthesizer to the gothic romanticism of the title cut, his hands convey a greater level of confident sensitivity and technical precision. Along with these stylistic changes one can detect more "heart" in Greinke's performance. There is less of the "alien" and more of the "human" to connect with this time around.
