If "Hold It Down" wasn't definitive enough as a prime example of West London-bred broken beat, Dego and Mark Mac commissioned the song to the likes of the Bugz in the Attic massive, Kaidi Tatham (Agent K), Osunlade, Exemen, and Teebone. The Bugz in the Attic mix intensifies the track with a quicker tempo and a more complex beat structure, turning it into something that rivals the brilliance of the original. Kaidi Tatham's relatively ethereal mix is on the other end, tempering the original's brittle elements with smooth, fusion-y nuances. Osunlade's turn takes it into further subdued atmospheres, with nearly all the original track's backing elements replaced by a graceful skip of a rhythm and a gorgeous bassline. Each look has something to recommend it, making this a rare batch of remixes that rival an original that didn't need any help to begin with.
