In 1952, Dizzy Gillespie visited Paris and made a series of worthwhile recordings that have yet to be reissued in a coherent fashion. This long unavailable Inner City LP contains the complete Mar. 27, 1952, session (including five alternate takes) which features Gillespie and expatriate tenor Don Byas in a quintet but only three selections from their septet recordings of April 11 (highlighted by an exciting version of "Somebody Loves Me"). Fine music that deserves definitive treatment.
