AllMusic Review by

Guitar Jump 1947-48 is a 25-track collection of Light Crust Doughboys material by the British Archive of Country Music (BACM), with material taken form sides cut in the post-wars years 1947 and '48, when the band had newly re-formed with Marvin "Smokey" Montgomery as their leader. Founding members included Milton Brown, Bob Wills, Leon McAuliffe, Tommy Duncan and Sleepy Johnson were all dead, as was pioneering electric guitarist Zeke Campbell. This collection is compiled of mostly lightweight material. The musicianship is top-notch, the sound is good, and the songs are, well, for the most part, nearly terrible. There are some high moments, such as "I'm Gonna Be, Gone, Gone, Gone," "Ezra's Waltz," and "I Cried and Cried and Cried," as well as a slew of previously unissued tracks. That said, this collection is only for hardcore Doughboys fans.
