All of the recordings by five female classic blues/country blues singers from the 1920s are included on this 18-song CD. The music, leased in the early '90s by the Da Music label from Document, has since been reissued by Document too. Virtually nothing is known of the vocalists, three of whom (Anna Lee Chisholm, Virginia Childs, and Cora Perkins) only recorded two songs apiece. Eva Parker fared a bit better with six numbers, while Lulu Jackson (who accompanies herself on guitar) made eight. Many of the sidemen are unknown, but Lonnie Johnson (on violin) helps out Cora Perkins. None of the music is essential, but early blues collectors will find some of the performances to be quite interesting.
