For several years, guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli played regularly at the Café Pierre in New York City a few nights a week with his regular trio. This LP was the group's only recording, featuring Pizzarelli, pianist Russ Kassoff and bassist Jerry Bruno. The repertoire is mostly standards, with the only departures being "Nola" and Pizzarelli's "Blues Chromatique," but due to the tight interplay of the musicians, the performances are full of subtle surprises and a fair amount of variety in tempos and moods. Unfortunately, the enjoyable set is not yet available on CD.
