Move Ya Body

Song Review by

The first single from these twin sisters is based on the "Coolie Dance" rhythm, as designed by dancehall producer Cordell "Scatta" Burrell. The quick rhythm -- resembling a hopped-up version of Vanity 6's "Nasty Girl," with pattering bongos and synthetic handclaps galore -- passed through the hands of many Jamaican DJs in 2003 (just as the "Diwali" rhythm had before, leading to stateside saturation through Lumidee's "Never Leave You" and Wayne Wonder's "No Letting Go"), but it also helps make for one of summer 2004's most pleasurable dance-pop singles. It's a club track through and through, with plenty of sultry energy injected by the sisters.
