Originally the closing track to Tim Buckley's wildly experimental Lorca album, "I've Been Out Walking" was a welcome reprise of Buckley's warm, jazz-folk leanings. Lyrically, this song is about coming to a decision, and being ready for change. This, however, is not as simple as it seems, and the listener is unsure if Buckley means getting out of a relationship, leaving the music business, or even life in general. However, despite the vague emotions, all of this is couched in a joyous, buoyant series of chords and a fine, stirring folk melody. An excellent live version is now available on the fine Rhino collection, Troubadour.
