The final song on Rufus Wainwright finds the artist both embracing his influences, as well as claiming his own artistic individuality. The melody itself is a loose take on "Surfer Girl," filled with well-placed sixth and major seventh chords, all collecting to create an intoxicating musical stew. The groove is also fabulous, buttressed by studio ace Jim Keltner's flawless drumming and Van Dyke Parks' dissonance-filled orchestral arrangement. However, Wainwright is the star of the performance here, with his erotic vocals mirroring the backseat romance alluded to in the lyrics perfectly. A great ending to a great, great album.
