The Monkees

Dream World

Song Review by

The title and feel of this lead-off track to The Birds, the Bees & the Monkees has its roots in a pre-Monkees Davy Jones Colpix single, "Dream Girl." An almost Turtles/Bones Howe-like approach imbibes this fine, if slightly lightweight slice of Southern California pop. The lyric, coming at the high-water mark of psychedelia, is a direct statement against the spacy flotsam and jetsam that Jones obviously observed in mid-'60s L.A.
