Roy Stephen's Album Reviews

An absolutely wonderful album that didn't sit well with the fans, because it moved far away from Kiss's original heavy rock style. With its subdued guitars, occassional synthesizers and melodic hooks, it's more in the vein of west-coast pop/rock or Bryan Adams's works, but for that, it's right up there with the best. Every single song is a gem, a triumph of songwriting and arrangement. I'm not kidding. Just check out the drums/bass duet that opens Torpedo Girl, the solo of Two Sides of the Coin, the bassline in Naked City, or the guitar work in Shandi. A real grower.
Highlights: Tomorrow, Shandi, Naked City, Torpedo Girl (and the rest).
