A.C. Gidien

I am a youthful "middle aged" man with progressive, eclectic musical tastes (i.e., not stuck in the 60's and 70's music of many of my peers). 80's indie/college/alternative is my "coming of age" favorite era, but I range from Baroque to Zydeco. I like to seek out and find new music (I snicker at people who say "there is no good music anymore" because they only listen to local FM radio all day). My wife and I still enjoy going to see bands live. My LP, cassette and CD collection is over 3000 albums, and now add digital and streaming.

A.C. Gidien's Album Reviews

One of the best debut albums of all-time, probably my favorite album of the 00's, and a contender for my top 10 "desert island" albums. It came out in the aftermath of 9/11 and captured the dark, dissonant, detached tone of that era, and is the cream of the crop for the then burgeoning NYC indie music scene. It still holds up on repeated listenings even after 15 years. "Antics" comes in a close second as far as Interpol albums, but is not quite up to the same level of emotional impact.
