Need a little something to get your week moving? We've got you covered with two advance streams. First up is
Golden Age, the latest from "electro-acoustic orchestral pop" purveyors
Grandchildren!
Aleks Martray's solo recording project-turned-pop orchestra Grandchildren is back with its second album, produced by Chris Powell (Man Man) and Bill Moriarty (Dr. Dog). Where their 2010 debut,
Everlasting, captured the feeling of various places,
Golden Age pulls together various moments in time, like a scrapbook of how we'd like to remember life. Our own Matt Collar says the sophomore effort is "a swirling, melodic, and often hypnotic album that finds the Philadelphia band bleeding its Technicolor mix of electronic and folk-inflected music all across the pop spectrum" that "sounds more organic, tactile, and human" than their debut.
RIYL:
Grizzly Bear's acoustic-meets-electronic layers;
MGMT's kaleidoscopic melodies;
Local Natives' dreamy introspection.
