Also known as the Alabama Harmony Boys, this seven piece Afro-American jazz band was based in Montgomery, AL. In July and August 1927 they made a small number of scruffy recordings that were issued on the Gennett and Silvertone labels. The instrumentation consisted of cornet, trombone, clarinet, saxophones, piano, banjo, and drums. The names of the players have all been forgotten with the exception of tenor saxophonist Murray Harper. Three of their rare recordings, "Canned Heat Blues," "Chicken Supper Strut," and "Sweet Patootie" have been reissued on the Timeless/Jazz Oracle compilation Gennett Rarities.
