This acoustic roots rock outfit was formed in the unlikely environs of New York City, USA, by chief songwriter Jason Merritt, Dan Goebel, and Max Lichtenstein. The trio play a multitude of instruments, including the mellotron, optigan, banjo, bowed strings, bowed saw, harmonium, pump organ, mandolin, keyboards, vibes, woodwinds, and theremin. Since there are only three members officially in the line-up, a fourth member, Jesse Sparhawk, has been known to join Timesbold on stage, when the band runs out of hands. The trio landed a bit of attention in Europe early on, when their 7-inch, ‘Sewn In Seems’, was selected as Single Of The Month by UK magazine Record Collector in January 2001, and resulted in a festival gig in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Later the same year, Timesbold issued the EP, Woe Be Gone … via the Belgian label Zeal Records. The band then signed to Glitterhouse Records, and issued their self-titled debut album in January 2003.
