Spdfgh Biography

by Mike DaRonco

Having gotten together while still in high school, (Spdfgh pronounced "spuh-duh-fuh-guh-huh") focused all their attention on writing simple pop-ditties rather than attending pep rallies. Accompanied by their own shoe string budget and duct taped instrument, the all girl quartet recorded their first single "Nighttime"/"Colour In"/ "Sweet" which was eventually released by Dirt Records in 1994. Taking a que from the likes of the Cannanes, the Pastels and Mudhoney, Spdfgh continued their relationship with Dirt, which resulted in the 1995 EP Grassroots and the full-length Leave Me Like This two years later.
