A band from Stockholm, Sweden, formed in 1992, Red Fun consist of four veterans of that country’s metal/hard rock scene. Thomas Persson (vocals), whose mane of red hair gives the band their name, was formerly a member of Alien. Tobbe Moen (bass) is an experienced session player, while Freddy von Gerber (drums) had appeared in a number of groups including Intermezzo, Bam Bam Boys, Rat Bat Blue and Easy Action. Kee Marcello (guitar) was also a member of the last-named band, as well as, more famously, Europe. Red Fun recorded a debut album in 1992 as well as a promotional single, ‘My Baby’s Coming Back’. Their press statements of the time boasted that they would put ‘some of the hedonism back’ into hard rock, following its domination by grunge. Support slots to Guns N’Roses and Neil Young in the summer of 1993 ensured that Red Fun were set firm to appeal to traditionalists.
