Inspired by a HQ character, the feminine pop band Penélope Charmosa was formed in 1995, in Salvador (Bahia), by Érika Martins and Pricilla Lollata, who invited Josane Noronha (guitar), Constança Scofield (keyboards/flute), Jandira Fernandes (bass) and drummer Mário Jorge. The first recording was "Pink Ploc". Participating in several festivals, the group was spotted by Sony in 1997 at the Abril Pro Rock fest. Mi Casa, Su Casa was the first album, and the first hit was "Holiday". In 1999 the band became just Penélope.
