Artist Biography by

Formed in Bandung, Indonesia, funk-rock outfit Pas came together in 1989 with the expressed goal of recording and releasing an album. That work, a cassette entitled Four Through the Sap, was a Red Hot Chili Peppers influenced work that caught the attention of regional label Aquarius Musikindo, who signed the band to a deal in 1994. The following year Pas would see the release of their first full-length, In (No) Sensation, and in 1996 they shared a festival stage with some of modern rock's biggest names, including Foo Fighters and Sonic Youth. From 1997 until 2004, Pas released five more albums -- IndieViduality, Psycho I.D., Ketika, Pas 2.0, and Stairway to Seventh -- although before recordings could begin on 2001's Keticka, the band had to cope with the tragic death of drummer Richard Muttler.
