Three piece outfit from Dublin, Eire, featuring Matthew Deveraux (vocals), Shane Wearen (mandolin), and Sean Molloy (bass). A&M Records signed the band after their debut release, a limited edition cassette titled Why Go Bald (the band indeed, are well shorn), caused ripples throughout London’s A&R departments. Their first single, ‘Dogs With No Tails’, was heavily promoted, but, despite its memorably bizarre display of Eastern European and pop traditions, it failed to achieve a strong chart placing. Their debut album was loaded with quirky but self-consciously ‘weird’ songs namechecking Airfix model kits and the like. The band’s idiosyncratic talent attracted some attention but after extensive touring in support of the album they elected to call it a day.
