P150 Biography

by Greg Prato

The trio P150 (which includes members Brandon Snider, David McCollum, and Carey Scott Laney) puts a new spin on the "boy band" genre by injecting gospel into their dance-pop tunes. Originally named Hearts on Fire, the group began in 1995 in North Alabama, until they broke up due in part to constant lineup juggling. Eventually Snider, McCollum, and Laney reunited in 1997 to form the core of P150, which stands for Psalm 150 from the Bible. But it wasn't easy to keep the band afloat initially, as its members juggled their musical career with schooling. After deciding to focus entirely on music, P150 signed with the Orchard label, issuing their debut recording, Open Your Eyes, in October of 2001.
