Uncompromising experimental rock artist Nate Ruth disregards convention in his music. The New Jersey artist's songs draw their inspiration from the past century of music, and not just popular music but unpopular as well. Seasoned listeners will note an array of influences and inspirations within Ruth's music, but the artist doesn't make the listening experience an easy one. Rather, his music often builds upon juxtaposition and irony just as often as it builds upon melody and invention. In addition to his solo work -- Whatever It Meant (Soundless, 2002) -- he has played in improvisational bands such as Nnam and Safety Patrol.
