The leader and keyboardist of Maulidi Musical Party, the most popular taurab band in Kenya during the 1970s and '80s, Mohamed Adio Shigoo has continued to serve up an infectious style of dance music. Together with ex-Maulidi Musical Party bassist and vocalist, Jumaa Bakari Chera, Shigoo remains one of Kenya's top session players, accompanying such top-ranked artists as Asha Abdo Sulieman and Zein L'Abdin. A member of Zein Musical Party, in the late '60s, Shigoo joined with bandmates Maulidi Juma, Zahura Swaleh, and Molika to form Maulidi Musical Party, named after vocalist Maulidi Juma, in 1972. During the nearly two decades that the group was together, they recorded several hit albums including Maulawi and Jino La Pembe. In 1990, they recorded Mombasa Wedding Special at a women-only wedding ceremony.
