Masher's hybrid of surf and complex pop-punk resulted from their combined influences of Devo, the Pixies, Shadowy Men From a Shadowy Planet, and the Minutemen. Consisting of vocalist/guitarist Adam Brisben (formerly of W.A.C.O.), drummer Nick Scott (formerly of Popdefect) and bassist Leslie Denny (formerly of the Neptunas), the trio first established the moniker of Masher upon their 1996 debut. Their first full-length, Get These Spiders Off My Eyeballs, came out in 1999 after three years of gigging around their native Los Angeles.
