In her 12 years exploring the L.A. music scene, Kelly McCartney has done a little bit of everything. Most notably, she booked an acoustic club that was a second home and breaking ground for artists such as Vonda Shepard, Shawn Mullins, Meredith Brooks, Joan Jones, Jill Sobule, Ellis Paul, and Dar Williams. (It's the "bar on Fairfax" immortalized in Shawn Mullins' hit "Lullaby" and "the funky, funky club on Fairfax Avenue" in Vonda Shepard's "Maryland.") The venue was also a low-key showcase/hideout for Joni Mitchell and the Bangles, among others. After Genghis, Kelly spent a few years managing Vonda Shepard's career, supervising the music for two independent films, and booking and coordinating several national tours for Melissa Ferrick.
